GDevelop Template – Web Desktop ver 1.0 out now!
18th May 2025Tired of most of the modern web looking all the same? Want to make something a little bit unorthodox? Then GDevelop Web Desktop Template might be just for you!
I made this to be an entry point for beginners to utilise GDevelop to create websites, though I have not yet completed my mission yet as I’m planning on developing step-by-step tutorials on how to do it from start to finish. I may even make another template to be a guide you can follow along with.
Funny story, I kept on having to force myself not to add too many features to this template. All because normally, you want tutorial templates to be as digestible as possible.
Because I’ve held back so much for the sake of this template, I do wish to make a game engine-powered site for myself in the future, showcasing all the potential sites you could make with the power of a game engine behind you. Granted, there are a bunch of trade-offs to building a site this way, but I think it would do wonders for simple landing pages and cool alternatives to building a linktr.ee or a carrd.co.
I think this could be a good alternative to Neocities if you don’t know HTML or CSS and know how to use a game engine, as most game engines will allow you to export your games into an HTML format.
Just for the record, I don’t think you should skip learning how to learn HTML & CSS using Neocities. On the contrary, think that I absolutely should learn both of these skills at some point so that I can make better sites in the future.
