Space Channel 5 – Ulala

Ulala is such an interesting character as well as her premise, she had so much potential for so many things but unfortunately, she is just one of the many other Sega IPs that are heavily underutilized. I adore retro-futuristic stuff and Space Channel 5s world is oozing that 50s & 60s Phycadelic vibe, it also has that Y2K vibe about it that makes the aesthetic even better!
If you think about it, she’s kinda the predecessor of Hatsune Miku. Whilst I don’t know a lot about Miku, she’s stupidly popular all over and I feel like Sega could have easily done something on the same lines (Ironic as Sega makes a lot of the Miku games)
Was gonna make more logo concepts for Space Channel 5, but I feel like I don’t know the franchise well enough to warrant me trying to redesign one. So I remade the original with my own personal touches, Plus the original logo is pretty iconic and doesn’t really need rebooting in my personal opinion.
I wanted to make a colour alt-based on Avadee. I don’t think Ulala directly inspired my character when I was making her but upon refining Avadee, she definitely has similar traits by coincidence.
I actually haven’t played much of Space Channel 5 games over the years, I played a little of Space Channel part 2 on Steam a few years back but didn’t get far. Space Channel 5 got a VR game not too long ago but I hear the diehard fans were not happy with what they got.
